My Momma:

August 9, 2018 marks the three-year anniversary of my momma being gone. She passed away due to complications from pancreatic cancer; a disease that blindsided all of us. I remember asking myself “Where the hell is the pancreas? Is it even important?” right after her diagnosis. Clueless would be an understatement for how my siblings and I (and my mom) went into this battle.

A few months after she passed, a few of us participated in the Purple Stride Walk for pancreatic cancer. It was wonderful to be surrounded by survivors and others who have lost somebody so important to them. A support system is so greatly needed when you’re going through something like that. I’ll admit, we’ve slacked a bit in terms of raising awareness about donations, and I don’t want that to happen again this year, or the year after that, or the year after that. We owe it to my mom to fight for something that will live on for her.

If any of you have been affected by pancreatic cancer, you know how horrible this disease is. You may also know that the survival rate is only 5 percent. Horrifying statistics and an unfortunate and unfair injustice for those affected.

If you have anything to spare, $5, $10, whatever, please donate. The goal is to increase survival rates by 2020. NOBODY DESERVES TO FEEL LIKE THEIR LIVES HAVE A TIME STAMP AFTER THIS DIAGNOSIS.

We call ourselves “Albie’s Avengers.” That’s exactly what we are. 💜

Purple Stride: Albie’s Avengers

We have to keep fighting. We have to persevere.

Thank you.
